Big congratulations to one of our folk, Gary Sanders, who has become Mayor of Braunstone Town for 2011/2012. Gary has been active as a local councillor for several years now, and has been particularly keen to represent the area where he lives – Thorpe Astley – and to encourage the development of a true sense of community. Thorpe Astley was built without much in the way of community buildings, and Gary has worked hard to bring about the creation of the Thorpe Astley Community Centre, which finally opened on the 2nd October 2010.
